Platelet-Rich Plasma

Fowlerville Veterinary Clinic is excited to offer Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP to our patients.
PRP is a non-surgical and advanced means of providing high doses of the body’s own healing factors directly to the area where they are needed.

PRP is blood plasma that contains concentrated amounts of platelets and growth factors. A sample of blood is collected and processed in the clinic to allow same day treatments. Additional PRP not used in the initial treatment can be stored for up to 90 days at the clinic. This allows additional treatments/injections from a single blood sample. The number of injections obtained from a sample varies on the size of the patient and the number and type of treatment being performed.

PRP can be used to aid in many ailments including, topical wound healing, degenerative joint disease, hip dysplasia, and soft tissue injuries.

We also advocate utilizing PRP in conjunction with our orthopedic surgeries to aid in healing and decrease inflammation.
