Wellness Exams

Your pet can benefit greatly from regular wellness exams or checkups. No matter the age, wellness exams provide an excellent opportunity for us to conduct a thorough physical exam and develop a health profile for your pet. This could help us identify problems early and any other issues that may affect your pet's health and quality of life. Preventing an illness is a much more desirable option than treating an illness.
A wellness exam includes an evaluation of all of your pet's major organ systems. We'll use the wellness visit to ask you questions about your pet's behavior, appetite, exercise habits and regular activities at home.
A wellness exam is also your chance to have us address your questions or concerns about your pet. We welcome your questions. No question is too small or too silly, and it is our pleasure to address your concerns. We strive to help you understand your pet's health care and be involved in decision making.
Finally, wellness exams help us establish a relationship with you and your pet. Through your pet's physical exams, other wellness procedures and our consultations with you, we get to know your pet and learn about his or her lifestyle, personality, health risks, home environment and other important information. We encourage you to use wellness exams to take an active role in your pet's health care.

DentalsYour best friend has bad breath! Despite what many pet owners may believe, "dog breath" is not just a nuisance - it may be a sign of an unhealthy mouth. Bad breath is caused by bacteria. Over time, bacteria leads to plaque and tartar buildup on your pet's teeth. The result is bad breath, inflamed gums, and other common signs of dental disease. As dental disease progresses, other signs may include drooling, discomfort while chewing, and loose or missing teeth. Treats and chews are not enough to keep dental disease in check.
VaccinationsWhat Exactly Are Vaccines?
Vaccines help prepare the body's immune system to fight the invasion of disease-causing organisms. Vaccines contain antigens, which look like the disease-causing organism to the immune system but don't actually cause disease. When the vaccine is introduced to the body, the immune system is mildly stimulated. If a pet is ever exposed to the real disease, his immune system is now prepared to recognize and fight it off entirely or reduce the severity of the illness. How Important Are Vaccines to the Health of My Pet? Vaccines are very important in managing the health of your cat or dog. Not every pet needs to be vaccinated against every disease. It is very important to discuss with your veterinarian a vaccination protocol that's right for your pet. Factors that should be examined include age, medical history, environment, travel habits and lifestyle. Most vets highly recommend administering core vaccines to healthy pets. When Should My Pet Be Vaccinated? If his mother has a healthy immune system, a puppy or kitten will most likely receive antibodies in mother's milk while nursing. Puppies and kittens should receive a series of vaccinations starting at six to eight weeks of age. It is important to realize that vaccines have saved countless lives, and play a vital role in the battle against canine infectious disease. Additionally, rabies vaccinations have saved the lives of countless dogs, cats and many humans, as well. In some developing countries, hundreds of people die each year due to rabies contracted from dog bites. |
Digital XrayRadiography is a valuable non-invasive, painless, and safe diagnostic tool. A radiograph, sometimes referred to as an xray, is a type of photograph that is used to look inside the body. These pictures are used to evaluate the organs in the body, as well as bones.
We have invested in a digital xray which allows us to provide superior diagnostic details, allowing us to improve the quality of the image. Radiographs are an important tool that helps us make a correct diagnosis for your pet. UltrasoundOur ultrasound is a state-of-the-art unit that allows us to get an in-depth view of your pet's organs. An ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless, imaging procedure that allows us to examine specific internal organs of the abdomen and chest.
